Chat History Backup & Restore on Android Devices

Mixin Messenger for Android allows you to locally back up your chat history. You can then copy the backup folder to a new device to restore your messages, or simply back up and restore on the same device after reinstalling the app.


⚠️ Chat history is stored only on your device. If you delete the app without backing up, your chats will be permanently lost.


Backing Up Chat History

  1. Access the Backup Feature


Go to: Profile Picture > Settings > Chat History > Chat History Backup


  1. Choose Backup Directory


We recommend creating a folder named “Backup” to store your chat history files.


  1. Start Backup


Tap the “Backup” button to begin.


Restoring Chat History

If you’re transferring to a new device, ensure that you copy the backup folder to the new phone and note the exact path.
Steps:

  1. Log in to Mixin Messenger
  2. Follow the prompt to restore chat history
  3. Choose the correct backup folder path to complete the process
