How to Restore Chat History Between Mobile and Desktop

Mixin Messenger supports multiple ways to transfer chat history. If you want to migrate your chat history from:
• Android to a computer;
• iOS to a computer;
• A computer to an Android phone;
• A computer to an iOS phone;


You can use the “Backup to Desktop” or “Restore from Desktop” feature.


Transfer to PC


  1. Update the application


Ensure that both Mixin Messenger and Mixin Desktop are updated to the latest version.


  1. Log in on the Computer


Make sure you are logged into the same Mixin account on both your mobile and desktop devices.


  1. Connect to the Network


Both your mobile device and desktop must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network or the same mobile hotspot.


  1. Find the “Transfer to PC” Option


Go to Mixin Settings > Chat > Transfer to PC.


  1. Start chat transfer


Tap Transfer Now on your phone. A confirmation window will appear on your computer. Click Confirm to begin transferring your chat history.


Restore from Desktop


  1. Update the application


Ensure that both Mixin Messenger and Mixin Desktop are updated to the latest version.


  1. Log in on the Computer


Make sure you are logged into the same Mixin account on both your mobile and desktop devices.


  1. Connect to the Network


Both your mobile device and desktop must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network or the same mobile hotspot.


  1. Find the “Restore from PC” Option


Go to Mixin Settings > Chat > Restore from Desktop.


  1. Start Restoration


Tap Restore Now on your phone. A confirmation window will appear on your computer. Click Confirm to begin transferring your chat history.


Note: During the transfer, keep Mixin Messenger running in the foreground on your mobile device.

  • Ensure that both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi or hotspot.
  • Try temporarily disabling your computer’s firewall. Once the transfer is complete, you can re-enable the firewall.
