How to Trade Stock Tokens in Mixin Messenger?

Mixin Messenger now supports Stock Token trading.

Users can buy or sell stock tokens using assets such as USDT, just like trading cryptocurrencies.

⚠️ Important: Stock tokens are NOT the same as real stocks.

They are on-chain assets issued by third-party projects or institutions and are typically price-pegged to underlying stocks.

Mixin only provides the trading interface and does not issue, custody, or endorse any stock tokens.

I. Preparation

Before you start, please make sure that:

  • You have installed the latest version of Mixin Messenger
  • Your wallet contains assets that can be used for trading (such as USDT)

II. Enter the Stock Token Trading Interface

  1. Open Mixin Messenger
  2. Switch to the Wallet tab at the bottom
  3. Tap Trade to enter the trading page
  4. At the top of the page, switch between Simple Swap and Advanced (Limit Orders) modes

Both Simple Swap and Advanced trading modes support switching between different asset categories when selecting assets.

III. Select Stock Token Assets

On the trading page, you need to select:

  • The asset you want to pay
  • The asset you want to receive

On both asset selection screens, you will see different asset categories, including:

  • Stocks (Stock Tokens)
  • Blockchain categories (such as Ethereum, Solana, etc.)

Steps:

  1. Tap on either asset selection box
  2. Choose Stocks in the asset category list
  3. Browse or search for the stock token you want to trade
  4. Tap to select it

IV. Complete the Trade (Buy / Sell)

  1. Select the payment asset and the stock token
  2. Enter the amount to trade
  3. Review the price and the estimated amount to receive
  4. Enter your PIN to submit the trade

In Simple Swap mode, the trade will be executed at the currently available market price. In Advanced mode, you can set a specific price and place a limit order, waiting for it to be filled.

V. Execution & Liquidity Notes

The execution of stock token trades depends on their liquidity sources, which may include:

  • Decentralized exchange (DEX) liquidity
  • Quotes provided by market makers

Please note:

  • Prices may vary across different DEXs
  • Insufficient liquidity may result in slippage or failure to execute
  • If a stock token mainly relies on market makers, orders may fail or be delayed during stock market closed hours
  • Limit orders are not guaranteed to be filled and will only execute when the market price reaches your specified price

VI. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. Am I buying real stocks or stock tokens?

You are buying stock tokens, not real stocks or securities.

Although their prices are usually pegged to underlying stocks, their structure, issuers, and risks are different.

2. Does Mixin issue or endorse these stock tokens?

No.

Mixin only provides a trading aggregation and interface. It does not issue, custody, or guarantee the value or redemption of any stock tokens.

3. What are the risks of stock tokens?

Including but not limited to:

  • Issuer risk (project shutdown, rule changes, etc.)
  • Liquidity risk (inability to trade or high slippage)
  • Peg deviation risk (price differs from the underlying stock)
  • Market closure or market maker suspension

Please make sure to follow announcements and rules published by the stock token issuer.

4. Are stock token trades executed in real time?

Not necessarily.

  • Simple mode: usually executes quickly if liquidity is available
  • Advanced mode: uses limit orders and only executes when the price conditions are met
  • During market closure or low liquidity, trades may not be executed

5. Can I sell stock tokens?

Yes.

Selling works the same way as buying—simply reverse the selected trading assets.
