FAQ

  • Can I use my private key to log into Mixin Messenger directly?

No. You must first register using your phone number or a 13-word Mixin-specific mnemonic, then import your wallet using the private key.

  • Does Mixin store my private key?

No. Your PIN, mnemonic, and private key are never stored on Mixin servers. They are encrypted and saved only on your device. If you uninstall the app, log out, or delete the wallet, the private key will be lost unless backed up.

  • Why can't I use my imported wallet after switching devices or logging in again?

After logging in again, your imported wallet will remain as a watch-only wallet. To perform transactions or sign operations, you’ll need to re-import the private key. Mixin will prompt you to import it when needed (e.g., when swapping or transferring assets).
