What is Recovery Kit?

Recovery Kit is a set of account security and recovery tools provided by Mixin Messenger.
It helps you securely access and recover your account in different scenarios.

You can find it here:

Settings → Account → Security → Recovery Kit

Recovery Kit includes the following three core features:

1. Phone Number

A phone number improves account accessibility and recovery.

In Mixin:

New users are registered by default using a mnemonic phrase
After binding a phone number, you can log in using:
Phone number + SMS verification code + PIN

You can also:

Bind a phone number
Change your existing phone number

It is recommended to bind a frequently used and long-term accessible phone number to improve account recovery success.

2. Mnemonic Phrase

The mnemonic phrase is the most critical credential for account recovery.

With your mnemonic phrase, you can:

Restore your account on a new device
Log in when your phone number is unavailable
Fully recover your wallet assets and data

On this page, you can:

View your mnemonic phrase
Back up your mnemonic phrase

Please keep your mnemonic phrase safely.
||| If it is lost or exposed, your assets may be at risk.
||| Mixin cannot recover your mnemonic phrase.

3. Recovery Contacts

Recovery Contacts (formerly “Emergency Contacts”) help you recover your account when your phone number is unavailable.

They can:

Assist in receiving verification codes during login

On this page, you can:

View your current recovery contacts
Modify your recovery contact settings

It is recommended to choose trusted contacts who can assist you when needed.
