Starting from version 1.10.0, Mixin Messenger has added a trading feature within the built-in Mixin wallet page. Users can easily exchange one cryptocurrency for another. The current primary liquidity providers are MixPay and the MAO organization.

Steps

Update Version Update Mixin Messenger to version 1.10.0 or above. Download or update to the latest version from the official website: https://messenger.mixin.one/download.
Access the Swap Page Switch to the wallet page, find the Swap button, and click to enter the trading page.
Select Trading Pairs Choose the cryptocurrency you want to pay with and the one you want to exchange for.

| Note the selection of multi-chain assets. The interface provides labels like ERC-20 to indicate which chain the asset belongs to.

Enter Trade Amount Input the amount you want to exchange. The "Max" button in the top-right corner allows you to exchange all of your balance easily.

If you see an "Error 10614: Invalid quote amount" message after entering the amount, the possible reason is that the amount is either too small or too large. Try adjusting the amount. Another reason might be that the exchange route is not supported.

What is MDT token?

MDT is the Mixin Debt Token issued by Mixin as a debt token pegged to the US dollar value. There are mainly three types: MDTu, MDTe and MDTb, representing debts against three types of assets: erc20-USDT, ETH, and BTC.

Why issue debt tokens?

The Mixin Network suffered a hacker attack on September 23, 2023. This attack mainly involved assets of erc20-USDT, ETH, and BTC, equivalent to about $150 million at the time, other assets were unaffected. After several days of data statistics and team repayment capability assessment, Mixin is unable to repay immediately according to the currency-pegged model and can only issue dollar debt in the form of issuing debt tokens and use profits from continued business development to repay the debt.

Why issue three types of debt tokens?

Although the debts are all pegged to the USD price at midnight on September 23 and denominated in US dollars, Mixin will repay in the order of erc20-usdt, ETH, and BTC. That is, MDTu will be repaid first, followed by MDTe, and finally MDTb.

Debt ratio during migration

When you upgrade Mixin Messenger to version 1.0.0 or above, the wallet shows the assets as 0, and there is a blue prompt at the top "You have unmigrate assets, please tap to start migration" to guide you to migrate assets from the old system to the new system.

How to deposit assets to Mixin?

Mixin Messenger currently supports deposits and withdrawals for over ten blockchains and thousands of assets. This article illustrates how to deposit cryptocurrency into the Mixin Messenger wallet.

Getting the deposit address:

At the bottom of the Mixin app, find the wallet entry. In the wallet, select the asset you want to deposit and click the “Receive” button to get the deposit address:

Enter the Address

How to use Bitcoin Core CLI to create Mixin Safe?

Prepare the Bitcoin Core wallet

Install Bitcoin Core; please install version 25.0 and above. | Or you can try to use Bitcoin Core GUI to create Safe?
Follow the documentation guide to compile and configure the wallet.
Go to the src directory and run the bitcoin client in the background by typing the command in the terminal:

Create a Mixin Safe

Log into the Safe Dashboard and create a New Safe "+ New Safe".
Name the Safe and select Bitcoin network.
Select Bitcoin Core as the private key wallet.

It requires generating two wallets on Bitcoin Core when you select Bitcoin Core as the Owner's Safe:

Key wallet that manages keys;
Script wallet for multi-signature transactions, managing UTXOs.
