How to Log in Using a Recovery Contact (previously Emergency Contact)
When your phone number is lost or no longer accessible, you can log in to your Mixin account through a recovery contact. Please follow the steps below.

Just like the normal login process, you need to enter your correct phone number and wait until the verification code countdown ends:

After the countdown finishes, you will see the Need help option. Tap it and select Phone lost, then enter your recovery contact’s Mixin ID.
If you do not see the “Phone lost” option, it means you have not set a recovery contact before. In this case, you will not be able to use this login method.Change Phone Number
Contact your recovery contact promptly. Once you enter the 4-digit verification code sent to your recovery contact, you will be logged in successfully. After login, the app will prompt you to restore chat history and update your phone number:
FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
- Q1: What if I forgot to set a recovery contact?
If you have not set a recovery contact in advance, you will not be able to use this login method. In this case, please try to log in with your original phone number or mnemonic phrase (13 or 25-word Mixin-specific seed phrase).
- Q2: How many recovery contacts can I set?
Currently, only one recovery contact can be set for each account. We recommend choosing someone you fully trust.
- Q3: Can I change my recovery contact later?
Yes. You can update your recovery contact at any time from your account settings. Once updated, the previous contact will no longer be valid.
- Q4: Does my recovery contact have access to my assets or messages?
No. Your recovery contact only helps you regain access to your account by receiving a 4-digit verification code. They cannot view your PIN, private keys, assets, or chat history.
