# MAO Name User Guide

## **What Is MAO Name?**

**MAO Name** is a decentralized naming service based on blockchain inscription. By registering a MAO Name, users can obtain a unique identifier for easier searching, display, and transfers within Mixin Messenger.

## **How to Search for a MAO Name**

1. Go to the **Chat** screen and enter the MAO Name in the search bar.
2. Both **letters** and **Chinese characters** are supported.

**Notes:**
* Pure numbers **cannot** be searched
* A single “.” **cannot** be searched, but domains ending with **“.mao”** are supported
* Strings with the prefix “+” cannot be used as domain names

## **How to Register a MAO Name**

1. Open the bot **Mixin Inscription (7000105124)**
2. Select **MAO Name Service (MN)**
3. Enter the domain you want to register (supports **lowercase letters** and **Chinese characters**)
4. Pay **1 XIN / MAO Name** as the inscription fee
5. Once you receive the notification **“Inscription successful”**, you can view your MAO Name in the **“Collection”** tab
6. To trade MAO Names, you can use the bot **RUNE (7000105325)**

## **FAQ**

* **Can I modify my MAO Name after registration?**
No. Once a MAO Name is inscribed, it cannot be modified.

* **Can I register multiple MAO Names?**
Yes. Each domain is billed separately.
