# How to register a Mixin Messenger account using a Mnemonic Phrase?

Starting from version 2.0.0, Mixin Messenger supports account registration using a mnemonic phrase.
| Update Mixin Messenger to Version 2.0.0 and Above from the [official website](https://messenger.mixin.one/download).

### Mnemonic Phrase Registration

**1. Ensure your Mixin version is 2.0.0 or above**

**2. Create an account**
Open Mixin Messenger > Create Account > Mnemonic Phrase > Create, as shown below:

**3. Back-Up the Mnemonic Phrase**
It is recommended to back up your mnemonic phrase immediately if you create a Mixin account using a mnemonic phrase. You will see reminders on the chat home page, during depositing, and when logging out.

* Can the Mnemonic Phrase Be Imported into Other Wallets?
**No**, the mnemonic phrase can only be used with Mixin Network-related products.

* Can an Account Registered with a Mnemonic Phrase Be Linked to a Phone Number?
**Yes**, once linked, you can log in to the same Mixin account using the phone number.

* How Do I Set a Recovery Contact for an Account Registered with a Mnemonic Phrase?
You **CANNOT** set a recovery contact directly. You must first add a phone number to your current account, and then you can set up recovery contacts.
